Main Character: Jack Callahan
Jack Callahan was born in the suburbs of Boston in the late 1960s and grew up in the 70s and 80s. Unlike most kids in his neighborhood, Jack wasn’t just another rough-and-tumble, sports-obsessed boy—he had a mind for logic and strategy, an affinity that would shape his future. From an early age, Jack was drawn to puzzles, mechanics, and problem-solving, often taking apart radios, fixing broken appliances, and later tinkering with early computers.
He had two very different parental influences growing up:
Norman Callahan (his father), a gruff but charismatic auto mechanic, tried to push Jack into the family business, but Jack never felt at home around the grease and steel.
Sherri Callahan (his stepmother), a strong and nurturing woman, was the one who truly encouraged his intellect and ambitions, always reminding him that he had potential beyond their neighborhood.
Despite their differences, Jack tried to be the son Norman wanted, working summers at the garage, but it was clear his father saw him as too soft, too quiet, too much of a dreamer.
Jack's Stepmom: Sherri

Sherri is the quiet backbone of a crumbling household—a woman who’s spent her life cleaning up other people’s messes. Once full of dreams and ambition, she traded her future for what she thought was security in marriage. Now, after years of emotional neglect and financial betrayal, she finds herself forced to hold her family together with little more than grit, grace, and unshakable resolve.
Fiercely protective of Jack, whom she raised as her own, Sherri is nurturing but emotionally guarded, struggling to reconcile the past with the demands of survival. Beneath her composed exterior lies a woman on the edge—tired, angry, and full of buried strength. She’s practical, passionate, and sharper than most give her credit for. And when push comes to shove, Sherri isn’t afraid to push back.
Whether she opens up or closes herself off depends entirely on the choices Jack makes—and whether he’s ready to grow up and earn her trust.
